Digital Records at the City of Boston Archives


The City Archives preserves and provides access to the municipal government records of Boston.


Our records are both paper and digital.  Our digital collections include digitized documents and photographs as early as the 1700s, as well as more recent, born-digital records, such as old versions of the city’s websites.


Getting started


To browse our digital records, click on the    button at the top of each page. This allows you to browse records arranged by record group.
To search our digital records, type in your search terms in the search bar at the top of each page:

Both methods allow you to further refine your search by selecting filters once your initial search has been made.
